I had my first heart attack at 50, and by 60 had open heart surgery. Three or four years after the surgery I was invited to join a drug trial. They were testing a low dose blood thinner that was currently on the market at high doses for other purposes. This trial was to prove that a low dose of this medication was more effective than aspirin 82mg to reduce heart and stroke problems.
In the blind test I was given one 82mg aspirin and one 2.5mg Rivaroxaban. Some were given only aspirin, others only Rivaroxaban. After the blind test which lasted almost 5 years, I went on the open test. It had been determined that the best results came from the 82mg aspirin and 2.5 Rivaroxaban combination.
If you are concerned about heart attack and stroke ask you doctor about this combination. It is not cheap however.
