The same Yesterday, Today and Tomorow

Every year for two days I take my grandchildren to Niagara Falls . Before them I took my children. We do more or less the same things each year and as the Grandchildren are getting older I thought maybe they will soon not want to go anymore. Not so, as a matter of fact all the grandchildren and children are going on this annual trip now.

We stay at the same hotel on Clifton Hill where all the excitement and action is, and have done so for the past 40 years. This past winter I received a panic phone call from my eldest daughter informing me they have torn down our beloved hotel, alas replaced by a ferris wheel.
We have found a new hotel, for how long we don’t know before they turn it into some other amusement or attraction.

Whether it be small or big it just seems by times you can’t count on anything. Everything changes, there seems to be no firm foundation to stand on in life.

And yet amid all the uncertainties of life the story of Jesus and his saving grace goes on century after century, touching so many hearts; from some poor, lonely soul seeking a hand to hold when all others have been withdrawn, to vast congregations of joyful believers singing their praises.

There have been endless variations in the script, in the music, in the dialogue, but one thing remains constant, one thing you can count on, the central figure Jesus, full of grace and truth embodied in a Gospel of love, concerned for you and me, your life and destiny here in this world and your eternal destiny in the next.
