Well we dated as Salvation army, were married as Anglicans, sojourned for awhile as Presbyterian’s, saved as Baptists, spirit filled as Pentecostal’s, now we have given up on labels and just call ourselves Christians seeking a closer relationship with Jesus.
For many of us the quest for Jesus has led us through the many mansions of his church here on Earth. Like someone looking for a lost love many have become disappointed, disillusioned and spiritually empty. Searching, peering, and shouting through the echoing emptiness or into the swelling sound “Are you there?” we ask or eagerly inquire: “Has he been this way? Are you expecting him? Will he come? And the answer: “He was here…He may be coming…He’s expected, but for too many of us never: YES, HE’S HERE! Never that.
I have come to realize over the years, the religion that Jesus gave the world is an experience, not just a body of ideas or principles; a relationship with God realized through Jesus-as many as received him, to them he gave power to become the sons of God. It is in being lived that it lives, as it is in loving that the love, peace and joy which Christianity discloses at the heart of all creation becomes real.
